Risk Factors

  • Increased age
  • Prior deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
  • Family history of DVT
  • Sedentary life style

  • History of leg trauma

Clinical Manifestations

  • Varicose veins
  • Leg pain
  • Distal leg edema
  • Inflammation
  • Induration (The process of becoming extremely firm or hard)
  • Skin pigmentation
  • Stasis dermatitis
  • Ulceration

      High blood pressure and venous insufficiency may be found in people as they age, but the venous insufficiency does not necessarily lead to the high blood pressure. If you have questions about the symptoms you are experiencing, we suggest you consult your physician.
